FAQ
1. Who do you help?
The Clergy Renewal Fund is a resource for clergy and church professionals, to assist them financially so they may attend wellness programs, educational seminars, or receive assistance for continuing education materials. As the Fund matures, there may be opportunities to endow specific clergy programs.
2. What is the need and why do clergy need assistance?
Due to a number of factors, there is an unparalled crisis in ministry. Each month, 1,700 pastors leave the ministry in the United States mostly due to burnout and stress. As communities change, pastors are left without traditional support systems, often finding themselves in churches with ever increasing and conflicting demands. Numerous studies and denominational statistics reflect these dramatic needs. We are currently building a “Facts and Statistics” section in this website to give a fuller understanding of these needs.
3. How do I apply for financial assistance?
Please use the email on this website, or phone toll-free 1-888-373-7492 to inquire about assistance, scholarship, or grant opportunities. We will return your message promptly, and mail you a financial assistance application after contacting you to initially review your request. The CRF Scholarship Committee will then review your application as soon as possible.
4. What types of assistance do you give?
The Renewal Fund grants financial assistance toward wellness programs and continuing education seminars, as well as funds special projects. At this time, we are open to assisting clergy, chaplains, missionaries, DCE’s, and pastoral groups who find themselves needing wellness/renewal programs as well as financial assistance.
5. What is the amount of a typical grant?
The Clergy Renewal Fund is small and growing. We do have a maximum grant/scholarship amount at this time, please call to inquire.
6. How are applications reviewed or decided, and how soon will I hear if I have received financial assistance?
After filling out and sending a straightforward, one page application, the Scholarship Committee will review your request, and will notify you within two weeks. We suggest you submit an application at least four weeks prior to your chosen program.
7. May I apply at any time?
Yes, we receive requests for applications throughout the year, and make decisions based on current need and program validity.
8. Are you affiliated with any denomination or other organization?
The Clergy Renewal Fund is an independent, ecumenical 501 (c) 3 organization that advocates clergy wellness, and is governed by an independent Board of Directors.
9. How do I give to this organization?
